How much does it cost to build a pool?

The most popular pool designs in Australia cost between $55,000 and $65,000. This includes the build and installation of the pool shell, coping tiles, pump, filter and chlorinator on a flat block of land with good access. Additional tiling, fencing and items such as heating are extra costs.

What are standard inclusions when building a pool?

Pool builders generally include these items with all new swimming pool projects.

Excavation

Pool builders will include an excavation allowance as part of the quoted pool price that covers the equipment, digging and soil removal required. A reasonable excavation allowance is around $5,000.

Heating provisions

Even if you do not initially want pool heating, many pool builders will include heating provisions so you can easily add heating in the future without the need for major works to your swimming pool.

Pool lights

Most pool builders will include at least one blue pool light or one LED light. If you select a higher quality pool builder, they may provide two LED multicolour lights as a standard inclusion.

Coping tiles

Coping tiles are a standard part of every pool build, however pool builders will vary in terms of the type and quality of coping tiles they provide - from concrete at the low end, to travertine and custom drop face at the top end.

Building insurance

All licensed pool builders are required to include the premium for insurance through the relevant State based building authority for all projects over a minimum value, which most pool builds typically exceed.

Pool cleaner

Pool builders will include cleaning equipment for your new pool, however this will vary from a pole and vacuum head to an automated cleaner or robotic cleaner depending on the quality and price of the builder you select.

We sat down around our flood damaged fibreglass pool and discussed the options of a concrete pool. Graham understood our problems and was very helpful in explaining how to solve our dilemma. Within 15 minutes he measured it up, and gave us a quote to remove the old pool and install a new one. He said think about it, and give me a call. We decided then and there to go ahead.
